RVRSL Records is an independent record label based in South London, renowned for its dedication to 140bpm music—a core element of the dubstep genre. Founded in 2014 by dubstep pioneer LOST, RVRSL quickly became a key player in the underground music scene, releasing tracks from industry giants like LOST, Jakes and Bukez Finezt, as well as emerging talents such as Abstrakt Sonance, Max Mudie and Deskem. The label's sound is deeply intertwined with London's rich musical culture, embodying the gritty, authentic essence of the early 2000s UK underground scene.

The opportunity

After a brief hiatus, RVRSL Records was poised for a significant relaunch in anticipation of its 10-year anniversary. The label's previous visual identity, while functional, no longer captured the raw, nostalgic vibe that had defined its early success. With the growing demand for RVRSL's distinctive sound, the label saw an opportunity to rebrand in a way that would resonate with its roots while also appealing to a new generation of listeners. The rebranding needed to reflect the early 2000s UK underground music scene and the Y2K aesthetic, while also setting the stage for RVRSL's expansion into merchandise, events, and radio.

What we did

We were tasked with reintroducing RVRSL Records to the music world, starting with a complete brand overhaul. Central to this rebrand was the creation of a new RR monogram logo, replacing the previous "RVR" design. The new logo features two mirrored "R"s, embodying a sharp, edgy Y2K feel that reflects the label's deep connection to the early dubstep scene. This monogram also serves as a versatile design element, functioning as a repeated abstract pattern within the broader visual identity.

To ensure the rebrand was as dynamic as RVRSL’s music, we developed various animated versions of the logo for use across social media, audiovisual content, and live events. Additionally, we art-directed a photoshoot and videoshoot, creating a comprehensive asset library that would form the foundation of RVRSL's new visual language.

The rebrand was launched with a teaser campaign on social media, culminating in a powerful relaunch video that reintroduced RVRSL Records to the world.

The outcome

The rebrand has been met with significant acclaim within the 140bpm scene, quickly reestablishing RVRSL as a key player in the genre. The new visual identity has generated a buzz, with the rebranded releases gaining traction among both longtime fans and new listeners. Notably, the "White Noise - EP" received major support from Skream in a recent Boiler Room set, featuring Grammy Award-winning artist Flowdan.

Our ongoing partnership with RVRSL Records extends beyond the rebrand; we continue to oversee all creative direction, developing merchandise, designing artwork for upcoming releases, and preparing for future events. This rebrand marks just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for RVRSL, as it continues to innovate and influence the world of 140bpm music.
